At quinn's friend's house, Brock loved the ride in car... Actually kinda baby extasy.

He also knew that the pens (with lids) were for drawing on the easel.

Techno-world

As we were skyping with Tia Mandy today, I'm realizing that to Brock, talking to someone on the computer will be perfectly natural to him. He was already waving to Mandy and doing all of his tricks, just as if she were here.

At this time, Brock can wave hello and goodbye and blow kisses when asked.

Now that Brock is walking... he always manages to fall and hit his right forehead. There is two or three significant bruises up there.

Made a garlic and chx pizza... Brock loves it. Ate two normal sized slices last night

Communication

We were playing in the family room, and Brock crawls into the dark kitchen. I didn't follow him, he crawls back to me, climbs on me, and then crawls back into the dark kitchen.

Apparently he is hungry.

Then we ate some bananas and cantalope. While eating cantalope, Brock was very clearly signing "more".

Then we moved to Cheerios... nearly mid-bite, Brock signed "milk". And I gave him some formula.

He then smiled at me, in a way that indicated that he knew that I knew what he wanted.

What a great morning.

A little give and take

Brock had great fun this morning handing me his pacis (2 of them), on at a time - and then taking the back from me. It is too bad that all of this fun took place at 4am.

Waving

Brock is learning to wave... Very cute.

Strength

Quinn was really trying to prevent Brock from getting into a cabinet. So Quinn stood in front of the door... Brock, balancing between the wall and the door... was still able to open the door. Several times... Even though Quinn was pushing against it.

Steps

Brock managed to climb up one step of the coffee table this morning.

Best toy ever

The paper on the examining table at the doctors. Brock LOVED tearing it apart.

Brock asked for more milk with sign language this morning. Yeah!

I might be reading more into it then what is there, but I'm pretty sure I caught a rough, awkward "more" sign from Brock after dinner.

Wagon rides

I'm not sure he has been in the wagon before, but he squealed like a pig on the way to the park today in the wagon.

Gag reflex

Well it good to know that Brock has a good gag reflex. Not only does he cough out the thing that he is choaking on, but also his last three meals.

Message to Brock

Brock, currently we don't have enough clothes that fit. Please refrain from the massive throw up that you had this morning, which required a full change of clothes for daddy, and the encore performance which required a full change of clothes for mommy.

Luck, timing, and pooping in the potty

It was just after bath, he was already naked... I felt him pushing while drying him off... moved him to the potty and he pooped in the potty! WOOT!

unlike just before his bath when Pam was holding him, while she was sitting on the potty, and he peeed into her hand. :)

Mellow kid

Brock had a 104 fever and we didn't even realize it until we were changing his diaper tonight... He hasn't complained or anything

Lack of sleep discovery

We all know that Pam's reaction to lack of sleep if grumpiness, but we just learned that Drew's reaction is a loss of intuition.

Case in point: we just moved and the pantry is a disaster. We just went shopping, and Pam says "I'm going to tackle the pantry tonight."

"Ok," I say, and proceed to but the groceries away. Pam says, "don't put the groceries away, didn't you just hear me say that?"

"Uh, no, you said 'i'm going to tackle the pantry tonight.'" I said using the instinctual instant conversation replay man skills.

"That means I'm going to take everything out to reoranize, it so it is useless to put it away."

"Uh, ok, if you say so."

Pulling up

Yup... Brock was able to pull himself up on the coffee table today... The toys are moving up again.

Weaned

Well, three days ago was his last breast feeding.... Today was his last stored milk....Formula from here on out...

Vacating my office

Well Brock is 7 months old and I'm finally cleaning out my office / his room.

I wonder if it would have actually happened if we weren't moving?

First time swinging at Godwin Park today. He loved it.... but he also loved watching Quinn swing right next to him.

I put Brock in a shirt that says "I want to rock" with a guitar. I instantly thought I would get a shirt for his girlfriend in 20 years that says "I want to Brock"

not tired

Don't know what it was, but Brock was not tired last night. He was up from about midnight to 4 am

Brock cried a fair portion on the journey home... That certainly makes the patents super grumpy. Esp the cab ride home.

Ability to see an a show

Since you were awake from 1:30-3:00 am, we saw a fantastic lightning show over the ocean... Even managed to get a couple of lightning photos

First flight

What a champ, Brock slept nearly the whole way to Costa Rica. Other then Pam's asleep left arm, and all of the extra gear... Babies are fantastic to travel with.

Rolled over in sleep

Not sure how he did it, but even though he can't do it yet while awake and using his arms, Brock is able to roll over back to front while completely swaddled.

First Road Trip

Brock is doing great on his first road trip... Slept like champ in the car... hasn't ad any prpblems sleeping in the hotel. But we are doing a very good jobo of wearing him out.

All tied up

Well, to get Brock to sleep through the night, we are literally tying his arms down. We were just swaddling him, but he kept wiggling out in the bigger swaddle, now a granny-knot is keeping his arms from moving.

It would be nice to try to have his arms free, but he gets to excited about eating his fingers and wakes himself up.

Off his meds

Brock has been off his reflux medicine for a week... Looks like we are clear. Yea!

Slept Awsome at school

Brock slept great at school today... Woot! The swaddle was such a great idea, and we should have done it way sooner.

Eyes and not for eating silly

while I was feeding him, he took a sudden slouch and I ended up putting an entire spoonful of oatmeal in his eye... it didn't bother him as much as i was expecting... I do however anticipate that it will take several days before all of the cereal is out of his lashes

Upping solid qty

We are moving to two times with ceral per day starting this week. Man was he ready.... He doesn't push it out or reject it... Normally eats the whole amount that we prepared for him

Front to back rolling

He definately has mastered front to back rolling.... He is not quite at the point where he is able to not bonkers his head though.

Solid foods

Oh, did I mention we started solid foods this week. He was certainly ready... Eats his oatmeal pretty well... And not too messy.

Bubbles

Brock has figured out how to blow spit bubbles.... He does it all the time now

Preferences

Brock definitely has a preference to falling asleep in pam's arms... Or maybe an anti-preference for daddy's arms

Showers for all

Everyone, including Brock, took a shower today. Brock liked it, even though we was surprised a few types by ricocheting water or even an accidental direct spray to the face.

It was kinda convienent too, he pee on everyone, so we had to make sure to wash Quinn's hair.

Crying day

Lots of crying today... From Brock's perspective he woke up early and had to wait 45 minutes for mom to get back from the store.


But Caroline and Sara came over to play while Pam and Kathy had a spa day at the house...

Sara was upset that her mom wasn't around... And Quinn and Caroline antagonize each other.... So there were lots of tears today.

Sleeping at school

I have no idea why school can't get him to sleep... he literally fell asleep in 3 minutes today... as soon as I laid him down. Why can't school do this?

Vocalizing

Making all sorts of new sounds. I think that Brock gets conversation, because he'll smile at you while he is "talking"

Rolling

We rolled from belly to back about three times today.

What's wrong

Couldn't figure out what was annoying Brock tonight at dinner. Actually, it might have been Quinn's crying. They say at school, he is very empathic and cries when the other babies cry. If that is the case, he might be in for a lot of tears.

Frustration at school

What's the point of filling out the sheet of when he should eat and sleep, if school totally ingores it. Brock was supposed to eat at 4 today, but when Pam picked him up at 5:30, they said he was still sleeping so they hadn't fed him yet..... Pam was pissed

First day of day care

Well, today was his first nearly full day of day care. He's doing great, just not sleeping well (no surprises there).

It is just so weird, Quinn was already crawling when she got into school... he seems so helpless.

Entranced

Brock, spent about 15-20 minutes staring at the cat with the ball dangling above his rocker. Perfectly content, visually examining every aspect of the toy

Bad parents on a beautiful day

We spent a lot of time at the park today because it was really nice... unfortunately Brock got a little sunburn. (Even though unintentional and I feel bad, I'm hoping that it jump starts his melatonin (the hormone that regulates day/night cycles)

Transitions

We went from yellow poop to green poop today... I know that you are immensely interested in this, but it's a baby - poop is a major source of discussion.

Doh

I nicked Brock's finger while trying to trim his nails. :( it bled alot. :( :( :(

First time at Popos

Brock came to visit Popo this afternoon for a one-on-one visit. What a gentleman he proved to be! He is welcome to come back any time. He slept, he ate, he burped and he stayed awake, looked around, stretched and kicked his legs. And no projectiles! :-)

It finally fell off today.... Well more like ripped off by Brock, but either way...

Vaudville here we come

So while changing a poopy diaper.... Brock starts pee-ing... okay, I miss a little, but I was mostly ready for this to happen. I wait what you'd think would be an appropriate time for a micro-bladder, and try to resume the diaper change....

Well he was still peeing.... So he gets a little more pee on me and himself, but I quickly cover him again and wait some more...

Once again, I resume the diaper change and he is still peeing. More messy.....

This time I cover him, but kinda leave it accessible to watch.

The crazy kid somehow stopped peeing when I covered him, and only resumed when I removed the diaper. (That's crazy muscle control.... I can barely even perform a feat like that).

Anyways, now I left enough room for him to pee into the air and not make an additional mess.... but the damage was done.... pee everywhere.

It really felt like this should have been a Vaudville skit.

More projectile news

The family was over having dinner last night. The baby was fed and I was holding him - really still- while everyone finished eating. All of a sudden, out of nowhere (well, really out of Brock) this projectile of milk flew out of his mouth and hit Ron big time on the side of his sweater. I received a bit on my shirt as it passed by, but mainly it splashed on Popop. I laughed really hard. Obviously a contrast to how Quinn handled her experience. Ron laughed too. Just not as hard as I did. :-)

Throw up

Quinn was in the line of fire from one of Brock's vomits... It made her quite upset.... Brock didn't seem to mind as much

wow, I cant believe it took nearly two weeks to get my first badge. Brock spit up on me today

Celebration dance

Guess who slept 5 hours from 1-6!!!! Woot!!!!

Circumcision

Dr's office circumcision experience, 1000 x better then going to a bris.... There is a prefabricated body restraint system and anesthetics.... But the best part is that we got kicked out and waited in the waiting room during the whole thing. And he even slept through it all. Woot!

Habits

Pam says, "it is hard to remember to carry a diaper bag with me all of the time"

Pronouns

So the bad thing about having a 2nd child of different gender is that "she" has become a pronoun that refers to the small person that needs something.... that is going to be hard habit to break with him.

Ode to the baby bucket

A quiet breakfast where no one ate the jelly with their fingers. One week old and already been to NY hot bagels. We really like this phase.

Side Effect for a winter baby

So having a baby in winter has an interesting side effect. See with a newborn, you end up washing your hands about twice an hour at least. Sometimes with soap, sometimes with sanitizer.... take that with some dry cold air... and you might very well find yourself with dry cracked hands.

New Parents talk about poop

Since there is little milestones, I thought that I'd report that we are past the meconium (the super sticky tar that represents 9 months of in utero poop).... and onto the mustard seed poop (the unscented, yet extremely watery poop that you get when you start on breast milk.

Means that the milk has come in. Yeah!

Isn't that interesting :)
